Welcome to Junuary

This is from The Seattle Times:
Seattle weather: Colder than Siberia!

Across the Atlantic, the northern destination of Oslo, Norway, has been passing the 70-degree mark nearly every day recently, while even the Siberian city of Tomsk, Russia, hit the 70s last weekend.

Meanwhile, shivering Seattle residents, hearing about snowplows back at work on Snoqualmie Pass this week, probably have only dim memories of the 77-degree high of May 24, the last time the mercury crept into the 70s here.
That's right folks, we're getting FRESH SNOW in JUNE here up in the Pass, which is only an hour away from me. I should grab my snowboarding gear and hit the slopes again. Who said the season's ended?! Plus, I wasn't even here on May 24; I was in Las Vegas, where it was in the 50s! And did you hear about the hikers on Mt. Rainier who got caught in a blizzard?! One died from (probably) hypothermia and the other two are suffering severe hypothermia and frostbite. Who gets bloody blizzards in June?!?!

This is absofreakinglutely ridiculous. *Sigh* If this isn't global climate changing/warming, then I don't know what is.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words but a couple of words don't hurt either:

When It Rains, It Pours

May was so bloody busy!! Even though I've been running full tilt since I can't remember when, last month felt particularly busy and it doesn't look to be slowing down anytime soon. Mom went back to Taiwan for a month (leaving everything to me), I decided to reorganize her kitchen cabinets and drawers and completely underestimated the amount of work required and how backbreaking it would be, I went to Ceroc Canada's Sizzle at the Springs Weekender (SO much fun), said goodbye to a dear, dear "dad", chopped off all my hair for the first time in over 20 years, and, of course, celebrated my 25th birthday (!!). Phew! And those were just the weekend events! Work keeps snowballing and as soon as I think I've caught up with myself and stop to take a breath, it piles up again. I'm still in transition from the upheaval at work, constantly finding new things that I must take over now that C's not here and usually it's a completely unknown matter to me, or I learn about it late and it's crunch time, or I have to learn/research about it from the ground up with limited time on my side. Actually now that I think about it, it's quite often a mix of those factors.

So I turned the big TWO FIVE about 2 weeks ago and it was awesome! Heather and I celebrated our birthdays together with a trip to Las Vegas. Ryan (of course), Georgia (of course) and Julius, Dem (of course) and R (of course) also came and it was a blast (except for the stupid people on the shuttle). The best part of the trip besides shopping at H&M? Em surprised me at dinner!! I'm not struck speechless very often but when Dem left for a phone call and came back with her in tow, I was shocked! She had told me she couldn't make it because of her nephew's birthday so her showing up was totally unexpected and wonderful. Having my 3 best friends with me on my 25th birthday made my birthday complete! Pictures and more pictures.
